With an active fan-base and critical acclaim, high-energy Queensland Blues Rock act Transvaal Diamond Syndicate have earned their plays on stations like Triple J and continue to be one of the most requested acts on Australian Community Radio and the national Festival circuit.
May 2014 sees the band hit the road after their first ‘month off’ the road in over 2 years. Rested? No. Recuperated? Probably not. Keen to hit the road? Always.
The five week tour will promote ‘Lay You Down’, a genre-bending track of their recently released debut album, Estranged Blues (Beats Cartel/MGM), along with promoting the general release of the album. A film clip to the track was recently filmed live at the Queensland State Library and will be released this week.
Lead singer and self-manager Christian Tryhorn says of the exploit, “This track has probably the most variety of styles we’ve ever put into a song. It starts off with a slow and sexy Blues riff then kicks into some Chili Peppers’ style funk then ends up in a full heavy double-kick bridge. We’re stoked with the outcome and keen to get on the road again after a month off. It’s been weird actually stopping touring!”
The band won’t rest much at the back half of the year either with plans to tour Western Australia and Tasmania. They also line up at the Sydney Blues and Roots Festival, the Airlie Beach Music Festival and Mitchell Creek Blues Festival later in the year.
