Live Nation is thrilled to present the immeasurable, unstoppable comedic force of AMY SCHUMER, live in her first Australian arena stand-up tour, plus a debut New Zealand performance, as part of her 2016 world tour.
Amy Schumer’s resume overflows with an embarrassment of outstanding achievements, excelling as an award-winning stand-up comedian, actress, writer, producer and director. Writer and star of Inside Amy Schumer – Golden Globe nominated motion picture Trainwreck and several hugely successful, dedicated TV specials – as a stand-up comedian Schumer continues to tour sold-out shows around the world.
Schumer has performed only one Australian show previously – these December performances are not to be missed.
Amy Schumer made her network debut in 2007 when she starred on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and soon after co-starred on 30 Rock and received her own Comedy Central Presents special. Mostly Sex Stuff, Schumer’s hit one-hour stand-up special for Comedy Central still stands as the network’s highest rated original stand-up special since 2011.
Creator, star, writer and executive producer of the award winning Inside Amy Schumer, the popular Comedy Central television series premiered in 2013 to the network’s highest season premiere ratings of that year. Recently picked up for a fifth season, the show won the Writers Guild Award for ‘Best Comedy/Variety Sketch Series’ and was honoured with the first-ever Emmy Award for ‘Outstanding Variety Sketch Series’, as well as nominations for ‘Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series’, ‘Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series’ and ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in Comedy Series’. Among the show’s many other accolades such as a Television Critics Association Award and Critics Choice Television Award, it also received the prestigious Peabody Award in 2014.
The one-hour HBO comedy special, Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo directed by Chris Rock, premiered on October 2015 and was HBO’s most watched Saturday night comedy special debut since December 2009, earning a Writers Guild nomination for ‘Best Comedy/Variety Special’.
Writing and starring in the Judd Apatow directed 2015 box office hit Trainwreck, Schumer garnered two Golden Globe nominations: ‘Actress, Comedy or Musical’ and ‘Best Picture, Comedy or Musical’. Additionally, she won the Critics Choice Award for ‘Best Actress in a Comedy’ and was nominated for another Writers Guild Award in the category of ‘Original Screenplay’. In 2015 The British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) honoured Schumer with The Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for ‘Excellence in Comedy’.
Among the many irons in the Schumer fire, she is currently shooting (starring in and producing) an as yet untitled mother-daughter adventure comedy opposite Goldie Hawn for director Jonathan Levine. Her album Cutting placed in the top 5 of the Billboard Charts and has been included on multiple Best Comedy Albums of the Year award lists. Leaving no medium untouched, this August sees the release of Schumer’s first book The Girl with The Lower Back Tattoo.
