Lost Paradise, the mind-blowing immersive summer festival experience held 28 December – 1 January in the enchanted hinterland of Glenworth Valley, has revealed its inspiring Shambhala Fields programme. A soul-soothing, stream-side haven to recharge the mind and body, Shambhala Fields is jam-packed with an eclectic line-up of yoga, talks, workshops and healing arts experiences by some of the world’s most experienced teachers and boundary-pushing thinkers.
This year’s programme – consciously curated by respected yogi Catriona Byrne – features a number of exciting Lost Paradise firsts including deep house yoga, ice baths, goat yoga, mental health talks, festival costume workshops, debates on hot topics such as 5G and the rise of Artificial intelligence, plus a necessary discussion around the efforts to keep the live music scene alive in NSW with labour minister John Graham and Keep Sydney Open.
This year Shambhala Fields opens ‘Shambhala After Dark’ a magical retreat where Paradisians will be treated to stunning ambient sounds from around the world including Dave Leah AKA Radical Son, Sydney Sufi Ensemble, Benny Holloway, Peaceful Minds Project, Evie J Willie, and violinist Eric Avery.
Now in its sixth year, Lost Paradise has cemented itself as a world-class cultural event, bringing together some of the world’s hottest acts, emerging musical talent, yoga teachers and practitioners to feed the soul through revelry, connection and discovery. Headlined by Rüfüs Du Sol and Hilltop Hoods, Lost Paradise will see Golden Features, Matt Corby and The Veronicas join dance heavyweights Green Velvet, Dom Dolla, Denis Sulta and Honey Dijon for four epic days of music, wellness, food, art and cultural experiences.
The guiding vision is to provide a creative, inspiring and respectful environment of extraordinary experiences and encourage people to forge deeper connections with nature, others and themselves. Shambhala Fields 2019 Programme Highlights:
Goat yoga – A yoga class designed for beginners and animal-lovers alike. Festival goers can get up close with baby goats who love to climb on guests during downward dog, helping to produce happy hormones and providing lots of laughs along the way.
Deep house yoga – Think festival vibes mixed with yoga highs. This juicy vinyasa flow is set to a spine-tingling live DJ set of hypnotic deep house beats.
Laughter yoga with Jeevi – According to medical research ten minutes of hearty laughter is equal to 30 minutes on the rowing machine, proving laughter really is the best medicine. Lost Paradisans can start every day with an infectious laughing yoga session that releases endorphins and projects the sounds of laughter across the festival grounds.
Practice Safe Sesh: Party Tips from the Professionals at DanceWizeNSW – Providing harm reduction education and support at music festivals, DanceWize know first-hand how easy it is to get carried away and will be busting common myths and misconceptions about different drugs with accurate, evidence-based information about how to party safely.
Kath Ebbs on mental health realness – Model, influencer and mental health advocate, Kath Ebbs, will talk about her take on mental health, manifesting, anxiety, motivation, expectations and how they serve us, and the availability to reach our fullest potential at any given moment.
Music under attack! Panel talk on the battle to save the music industry with Keep Sydney Open – Venues are closing, festivals are facing ill-thought-out and heavy-handed regulations, and the industry is calling for change. John Graham is the first ever Minister for Music in Australia and has been actively working with the music industry on the campaign to save music in NSW. Guests can hear about what is being done in this space and how they can get involved.
When Black mirror becomes reality with Brenna Harding – Aussie actress Breena Harding shares what it was like working on the Black Mirror episode everyone is talking about – ‘Ark Angel’, alongside Dr Jordan Nguyen who will draw on his adventures around the world to understand the latest advancements and predict what’s coming next in our ever-evolving fields of science and technology.
One Eighty and One Wave – Featuring two amazing non-profit local Sydney organisations leading the way in peer to peer models of community support. One Eighty will hold an open up panel talk around mental health, while One Wave hosts an ‘anti bad vibes’ session on the banks of the Lost Paradise river.
Wim Hoff’s Ice bath immersive experiences – Dive deep and tap into altered states erasing any hangover with guided breath work session, mindset training and cold exposure through ice baths.
2040 film: Join the regeneration – Award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) will visit Shambhala Fields to inspire and empower people as to what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream.
Doga (Dance Yoga) with Tommy Franklin (aka Salty Rain) – Immerse yourself in this judgement-free zone, step out of your head and leap into your body with Tommy Franklin, known as the ambassador of smiles. The fun, sassy, sacred journey of dance movement therapy helps you achieve emotional cognitive, physical and social integration and is known to promote self-awareness, self-esteem, and be a safe place for the expression of feelings.
Upcycle your festi’ outfit – Revellers can design original garments using vintage fabrics, whilst rrecognising the perks of reducing waste by recycling vintage clothing, making conscious fashion choices and supporting high vibrational brands.
Eye gazing with The Human Connection Project – A uniquely crafted workshop designed to deeply immerse guests in the art of human connection through gazing into each other’s eyes and synchronising with others in stillness, movement, dance and vocal release enhancing the ability to connect meaningfully and authentically with others.
Sacred Taste Cacao Bar – Traditionally used in sacred ceremonies as a spirit bridge to connect to other realms, today cacao is used to elevate mood, enhance cognitive function and deepen the connection with ourselves, spirit and Mother Nature.
