The single arrives as Jamie’s In Waves Australia tour adds two more dates to the run of sold out shows. A collaborative masterclass featuring Kelsey Lu, Panda Bear and John Glacier, ‘Dafodil’ has been the subject of endless fan ID-ing over the last few years, while the song was recently performed live by John Glacier as part of Jamie’s recent The Floor residency in London.

Speaking on the new single, Jamie xx says “‘Dafodil’ was one of the first pieces of music that I made for this album, it was actually the song that made me realise I could finally make another album. I am forever grateful to Kelsey Lu, with whom this song began as voice notes about a hazy night we both remembered. Thank you to John Glacier and Panda Bear whose voices perfectly evoke the unique feeling of summer nights in London.”

Kelsey Lu added “’‘Dafodil’, A fun ride into a cute sexy hazy night in London shared with my dear friend Jamie xx. Memories of my first London summer I’ll cherish forever that are now encapsulated for us all to be in ecstasy together. See you on the dance floor.”

In April, Jamie released ‘Baddy On The Floor’, his joyous summer collaboration with Honey Dijon, before heralding news of the album in June with the riotous ‘Treat Each Other Right’; a muscular breakbeat anthem-meets-futuristic soul burner that was accompanied by a much-talked about video from photographer and filmmaker Rosie Marks. In June, he collaborated with Robyn on her first major new release in six years with ‘Life’, a hymn as nu-disco affirmation that arrived in a blaze of horns and filtered loops, featuring one of the most iconic vocalists in recent times. Together with recent single ‘All You Children’ featuring The Avalanches and now ‘Dafodil’, fans get a glimpse into the joyous, euphoric record to come.

Jamie xx’s long-awaited return has unfolded across a series of exciting global events over the few months. At the unveiling of The Floor, club residencies in the UK and US featuring guests such as Charli xcx and George Daniel, Romy, Daphni, 2ManyDJs, John Glacier, Four Tet, Hudson Mohawke, Jockstrap, Axel Boman, Two Shell, Yu Su, Lil Silva, MJ Cole, DJ Python and more – Jamie previewed every track from In Waves. At his triumphant return to Glastonbury in June, he was joined on-stage by Robyn for a performance of ‘Life,’ and his The xx bandmates Romy and Oliver Sim for a performance of the unreleased In Waves track ‘Waited All Night.’

In Waves will be available digitally, on CD and in multiple vinyl formats, A Deluxe LP will feature a bonus 12” of previous singles ‘It’s So Good’, ‘KILL DEM’ and ‘LET’S DO IT AGAIN’ plus two exclusive new tracks: ‘F U (ft. Erykah Badu)’ and ‘Do Something’.
