A bouncing and energetic album, Pink Lemonade might take a couple of listens before it really sticks. With a much more effervescent take on the band’s sassy post-hardcore sound, this instalment from Closure In Moscow is refreshing and surprising.
The zany track titles are reflective of the band’s quirky disposition and attitude in all their music. As they combine punchy drums and throaty vocals, the whole album becomes a series of soaring peaks and dark bass-y troughs.
The title track, running at just over eight minutes, packs an infectious soul vibe and really prepares the listener for the toe tapping tunes that follow. A real favourite, and one of the earlier releases – ‘Neoprene Byzantine’ has a particularly catchy chorus and the effortless charm of a youthful anthem.
Left confused by the final album on the track –‘ピンクレモネード ‘- an asian pop and electro mash up – it kind of stumbles into your ears, clunky and awkward, yet in a way it helps you to make sense of the eccentric visuals that accompany the album and the soothing ethnic influence that has made Pink Lemonade the rioting dance mix that it is.
