The Forum, Melbourne
Sunday June 5, 2016 :

‘International in flavour, cosmopolitan in style’ is the motto that underpins Melbourne purveyors of electronic pop, Client Liaison. Taking to the stage at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, as part of their ‘World Of Our Love’ Australian National Tour, the boys proved they lived out their motto extremely well.

Having witnessed the mighty live force that is Client Liaison a couple of times before, I was incredibly excited to see what new elements they were bringing to the tour. New costumes (think ’80s inspired suits, tassels and sequins), a new stage setting (including giant office water coolers) and a new set list were all present.

By the time the boys hit the stage, the Sunday night crowd had flooded to the dance floor. The four piece (in the live incarnation) burst to life in their matching pale suits, with frontman Monte Morgan strutting and spinning all around.

Hits such as ‘Pretty Lovers’ and ‘Feeling’ appeared early in the set, before the boys were joined by GL’s Ella Thompson for ‘Foreign Affair.’ Monte’s stage presence is something often noted, but it truly deserves praise. The man’s energy makes for a live show like no other – he is truly commanding. Tom Tilley’s bass face just makes it even better.

The encore was super special; including live favourite ‘Canberra Won’t Be Calling Tonight’ (complete with didgeridoo interlude and Fosters beer), as well as a cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Black or White.’

Client Liaison put on an immensely fun live show, and I cannot wait to hear further studio offerings.
