“I must go and see 12 Foot Ninja” said Liz, NEVER.
I’m going to be hunted down and killed by a tall, dirty, dreadlocked head-banger for saying this, but truthfully, I was a bit BORED.
There isn’t anything new or interesting going on here. Uniforms of black Dickies, black T’s and black baseball caps aside (cute, sure, but a decent gig that doesn’t make), they were just not that smokin’.
In summary, Ninja had a good solid sound, they can play their instruments, they look cool and the crowd interaction was grand, but close my eyes and I could have been listening to Slipknot, Killswitch, Chimaira – any number of shouty/screamy haemorrhage inducing rhythm section bands. But clearly I was alone in my thinking because the crowd loved them and the danger dancing began immediately.
I wish they HAD been twelve foot Ninjas – or at the very least, the dude in the crowd dressed like a Storm Trooper had got up and done a turn, but since neither of those happened, I can honestly say it would have been a whole lot more interesting staying at home.
Honourable mention MUST go to second support, Chill. Young, tight, inventive, hints of Radiohead, the Pixies and even some Floyd, these guys rocked and the singer….keep your eye out for him and his Jagger/Yorke hipster grooves.

Lamest gig review ever.
The Support was TEAL, not Chill as mentioned in the Review. Also not mentioned in the review ( not sure if the reviewer got there late) was local coast band Bleeding Gasoline, who rocked as hard as they could having a lead singer suffering the effects of food poisoning throughout the day & second slot was In Hyde’s Shadow.
Sorry, just realized the review was from the small ballroom, so don’t know if In Hyde’s Shadow or Bleeding Gasoline played that one. The support would have been TEAL as, they supported Twelve Foot Ninja on the tour.
why the negative ? I say !
