After calling it a day nearly ten years ago with a massive international farewell tour, legendary Australian propaganda rock band The Beards are back, reforming for an exclusive, limited-run of one night stands in selected Australian capital cities this August and September.
Friday 29th August: The Triffid, Brisbane
Saturday 30th August: The Metro, Sydney
Friday 5th September: The Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Saturday 6th September: The Gov, Adelaide
Forming in 2005 on a mission to start a global beard revolution, The South Australian four-piece who famously perform songs about just one topic gradually built a large following and became a mainstay of the Australian live music scene. Beloved for their musicianship, distinctive brand of humour, and their highly- interactive live shows, The Beards have released four albums of original songs about beards; played sold out tours throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America; received two ARIA Award nominations; supported the likes of KISS and Motley Crew; secured a place in Triple J’s Hottest 100; and even performed at the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Alaska. The Beards shocked their legions of fans in 2016 when they announced their departure from performing live. Now, after close to a decade, the world’s premier beard-related rock band will make their triumphant return to the stage.
The tour will also embrace a specially-designed dynamic pricing model of the band’s own creation, offering concert goers differing prices depending on whether or not they have a beard. Naturally, the beardless will be charged a higher price. “If it was up to us, people without beards wouldn’t be permitted to attend our shows at all.” Said bassist Nathaniel Beard. “So I think it’s only fair that a tariff be imposed on such undesirables.”
With crowd favourites like ‘No Beard No Good’, ‘You Should Consider Having Sex with a Bearded Man’, and ‘If Your Dad Doesn’t Have a Beard, You’ve Got Two Mums’, audiences in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane will experience The Beards’ signature blend of infectious energy, sharp humour, and undeniable musical prowess in a series of unmissable live shows.
