Throughout the ages, great songs have continued to wield tremendous power. Cementing moments of passion in our memories forever, comforting us through the darkest of times, galvanising us during times of uprising, sound tracking defining moments in our lives and our history.
Songs have the power to transgress the boundaries of age, race, sex, geography and time. When artist and fan connect, something magical happens.
Serenade is a platform that uniquely enables that connection, directly connecting the two, allowing artists to build a closer relationship with their most committed fans, the fans from the front row.
Fans are empowered to ‘Book a Serenade’ and receive a dedicated video recording of a song selected from an artist’s catalogue for their collection, or to share as a gift. Artists maintain 75% of the revenue earned from every song and are paid during the same week they deliver their work.
Serenade gives fans a more personalised experience of their favourite songs by their favourite artists.
Launching in 2020, Serenade has an all Australian roster of a diverse genre of artists that is growing each day, including Steve Kilbey, Didirri, Kim Churchill, WAAX, Slowly Slowly, Ash Grunwald, Ella Hooper, imbi the girl, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Death by Denim, and more.
Serenade is a Sydney-based technology company founded by avid music fan Max Shand in May 2020. Max has been sneaking backstage to request autographs from his favourite artists since the age of 14. His passion for music is matched only by his love for the start-up community, a community he has been involved in since his days as a founding employee at Afterpay.
“I wanted to create a platform that ensured, irrespective of where fans or artists are based, they can still form that connection, and artists can earn an alternate stream of revenue. I wanted to create a platform that allows artists to make money at a time where most of the platforms available to them devalue their art. My goal is to say to artists, what you have is something brilliant, you just need to wrap it up in a new experience that makes a fan eager to spend real money on it,” says Max.
Max holds a board seat at Sydney’s youth broadcaster, FBi Radio, and is a contributor to several arts publications including The Sydney Morning Herald, PopMatters and The Quietus.
Serenade is already providing unforgettable moments for music fans across the country. Head over to serenadesound.com to see how.
