2018 is about to be taken Captive(s)!
In a stellar start to the year, Tasmanian Forest-Horror Punk-Rawk dudes Captives have inked a number of deals – and are today previewing a whole new album of material entitled Over The Rainbow that will surface on 30th March 2018, with a new single coming as early as next week.
Towards the end of 2017 and over the Christmas/New Year break, Captives and their management team at Bear Parts Music put pen to paper to sign their catalog for worldwide publishing over to Cooking Vinyl Publishing Australia, the distribution of their new record to Inertia, and a new Booking Agency Deal to Harbour Agency, with Jess Wust now handling the boys’ live performance booking.
Matthew Donlevy, Managing Director at Cooking Vinyl Publishing Australia said that “We at Cooking Vinyl Publishing Australia are excited about working with a real up and coming band like Captives and their management at Bear Parts Music.” Anthony ‘Gadget’ Goddard, A&R and Product manager at Inertia says that “It’s been great to have the relationship with Captives grow further. Seeing the band, and Roy, take some great strides in the lead up to debut album makes it really exciting for what’s around the corner.” Jess Wust from Harbour Agency expressed that she is “Very excited to join Captives’ team. The new album is incredible and really looking forward to a big year ahead with the guys.”
Aaron Damon, vocalist for Captives, said about the signings – “We are more than ecstatic about these signings – to be in partnership with flagship companies like Cooking Vinyl, Inertia and the Harbour Agency – all feeding out of the guidance of our manager Roy, this is the best start to the new year and to the release of new music coming in March!”
Not that their previous years have been any less exciting! This heart-starter band have enjoyed rotation play on triple j and triple j unearthed (they were one of the top 50 most played artists on triple j unearthed in 2014!), some love on Triple M, and have supported the likes of Cog, The Damned, Pulled Apart By Horses, Grenadiers, Born Lion and Shihad, as well as toured their own hectic, raucous shows and tours.
In a case of “Don’t fix what’s not broken”, Captives once again worked with Tom Larkin (Producer) and Samuel K Sproull (Mixing Engineer) in the now-Homesurgery Recordings Studios (nee Studios in the City.)
