To coincide with the release of their third album Bloody Lovely (out today), I OH YOU is psyched to announce Australia’s favourite thrash-party duo DZ Deathrays will hit the road this May for an extensive run of dates around the country for the Bloody Lovely Album Tour, playing their biggest rooms to date (and with a couple of April warm up dates in NZ thrown in for good measure)!
Presented by triple j, the Bloody Lovely Tour will set alight stages throughout Australia bringing DZ’s new album to life, alongside some filthy triumphs from their back catalogue, for what are sure to be some of the most debaucherous live stage shows this year. Joining DZ on their Australian shows are Clowns, These New South Wales and Boat Show. Tickets (alongside some Bloody Lovely merch bundles) go on sale this Monday 9am local time via dzdeathrays.com.
Enjoying a preview on triple j this week as Feature Album and almost four years in the making, and fresh off the back of opening Suncorp Stadium for Foo Fighters over the weekend, DZ are pretty pumped to be getting Bloody Lovely out into the world and just as stoked to be hitting the road this autumn:
“It’s been a while between drinks for us and finally having this album out for everyone to hear is huge occasion as the next chapter of DZ. We are more than excited to take these songs out on the road and into any dive bar, theatre or festival stage we possibly can.”
2018 marks a remarkable 10 years since the inception of DZ Deathrays. Shane Parsons (guitar and vocals) and Simon Ridley (drums), who hail from Bundaberg in North Queensland, established themselves in Brisbane amidst sweaty house parties, intent on spreading their unhinged two-piece punk. Among widespread acclaim, numerous live shows both locally and further afield including UK, USA, South America and China to name a few, the duo are (among many other achievements) the proud owners of two Best Hard Rock/Metal ARIA Awards – one each for their past two releases Black Rat (2014) and Bloodstreams (2012).
Bloody Lovely is a palpable and tangible progression for DZ Deathrays. It is the amalgamation of all that has come before it and sees the band expand on their signature party-thrash sound we have come to adore but kicks in the afterburners as we all hold on for dear life! With singles so far in the form of ‘Shred For Summer’ (which came in at a very decent #67 in the triple j Hottest 100), ‘Total Meltdown’ and album track ‘Bad Influence’, the 11-track LP swells from outset to end. It’s the perfect soundtrack to a night that rolls from reflectively introspective to completely deranged.
Fans eager to get their fix should not miss the Bloody Lovely Pop-Up Bars touring the east coast this weekend where the album will come to life in DZ Deathrays’ real life dive bars! Opening for one night only at Brisbane’s Greaser Bar tonight, Sydney’s Ramblin’ Rascal Tavern tomorrow night and Melbourne’s The Beaufort on Sunday 4 February, the Bloody Lovely Pop-Up Bars will be a chance to hang with the band and gain access to a bunch of exclusive merch, not to mention the Young Henrys and DZ Deathrays collaborative beer Bloody Lovely Czech Pilsner flowing on tap! Check the Facebook events for details.
Mmmmmm Bloody Lovely!
