[News] GRETTA RAY RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE ‘TIME’ + HEADLINE SHOWS IN AUST AND NZ THIS AUGUST

Gretta Ray is very proud and excited to share ‘Time’, the first single to come from a forthcoming EP titled Here and Now. Premiered overnight on triple j, ‘Time’ is Gretta’s first piece of music for the year and is yet another example of her skilful command of language and impressive vocal ability. To celebrate the EP release, Gretta will be heading out her first headline tour of 2018 across five Australian states and in New Zealand.

Gretta spent her first year out of highschool focusing on music, writing and recording her Here and Now EP. ‘Time’ was produced in Nashville and Berlin by Josh Barber and Jonathan Dreyfus. “‘Time’ is a break up song“, Gretta shares. “A break up song without any sense of aggression, frustration or disagreement. It is a song of acceptance, the atmosphere of it intended to be thick with melancholy and memory.

In 2016, Gretta shared her single ‘Drive’ and firmly established herself as one of Australia’s most exciting new songwriters. The single saw Gretta win triple j Unearthed High, the prestigious Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition and place #27 in triple j’s Hottest 100 – all whilst finishing her final year of high school. Early 2017 saw Gretta release her next single ‘Towers’ – a gleaming slice of guitar-driven alt pop, with effortless vocals. ‘Towers’ received high rotation on triple j and saw Gretta sell out every Australian headline show to date.

Gretta has supported the likes of Vance Joy, Paul Kelly, The Rubens and Lianne La Havas, whilst being booked on renowned Australian festivals Falls Festival and Splendour in the Grass.

A creative individual, Gretta confesses to a fascination with human emotion, an irrepressible desire to express herself through harmony, form, and melody. Gretta’s music has an intriguing way of combining lyrical complexities that express personal feelings of love and heartache, with tongue-in-cheek facetious anecdotes.
