Genre mashing alt-rock acrobats He Danced Ivy yesterday premiered their wild new single, ‘Toothcutter’, due for release Friday July 5, which is every bit as eclectic as the last with its blend of hybrid genres, maniacally driven infectious rhythm, a powerful vocal performance and bitingly relatable lyrics. The band are also today announcing their short, sharp single launch tour that will take the band to Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle.
“Toothcutter” is a beastly track that revolves around the theme of conformity-induced frustration and the desire to give in to addictive cycles that ultimately reject true connection. Abstract imagery is abundant when front man Dave Cheney vents: “I can’t tell if I’m filling fangs or cutting my teeth”, sarcastically jabbing at the notion that substances will aid in becoming ones ‘best self‘.
He Danced Ivy’s single launch tour will begin on Friday August 2 at Whole Lotta Love in Melbourne before making its way to Brisbane on Friday August 9 for a hometown set at Black Bear Lodge and finally to Newcastle on Sunday August 11 to round things out at The Cambridge.
