A seminal record, not only for the duo but the genre itself, The Grey Space is a debut that found a place in every hip hop fan’s heart, from young kids to the most celebrated Australian rap acts. A record that so many cut their teeth on and found solace in, it maintains its significance to this day, turning heads the moment the opening notes hit the airwaves.
It is astounding to think that The Grey Space was written while Solo and Adit were still in highschool at the age of 17. They possessed a level of sophistication in the way they navigated through the themes of adolescence, earning them rave reviews, an ARIA nomination and a legion of loyal fans. Horrorshow and their fans are an inspiring exception to the feeling that modern music consumption can feel disposable at times. The Grey Space was part of a new wave of rap music that captured a generation that helped the genre expand into the wide-ranging force it is today.
Today they announce The Grey Space 10 Year Anniversary Tour. Playing in tiny venues across the country, Horrorshow perform the album in its entirety in an up-close and personal show, stripping it back to “Solo on the mic and Adit on the fader” – just as it was in those humble beginnings in 2008.
