[News] ILUKA ANNOUNCES RITUAL EP TOUR THIS APRIL

Sydney based motown revivalist ILUKA is lighting a fire in the bellies of the indifferent with a vivacious new video for her most recent single ‘Sympathy’ alongside the announcement of a six date headline tour.

In the perfect visual accompaniment to her rousing call to arms track, the video depicts a 60’s housewife abandoning her duties upon seeing Iluka and her untamed collective enjoying the freedom to express themselves creatively. The troop popping with colour and exuberance, unbound by social expectations of the time.

In Iluka’s own words: “The whole premise of the song is about radical self expression in an all too often repressive society. The video serves as an expressive response, through art, through colour, through movement, and through community. My vision was to bring together a bunch of beautiful, creative people – dancers, painters, sculptors, circus performers, photographers, musicians – in a wild, dreamlike world and simply give them the freedom to be themselves.” says Iluka. Joining forces with award winning writer and director Kate Haplin, the video seeks to inspire. Their period piece reminding viewers things weren’t so different 50 years ago and Iluka is leading the charge to fight the good fight.

Iluka’s forthcoming EP Ritual (out Friday April 6) was written to uplift and motivate; to create change the most powerful way she knows how: with a guitar in her hand and spitfire lyrics designed to shake awake the apathetic. Having spent much of 2017 touring with the likes of Alex Lahey, Killing Heidi and Dan Sultan, ’Sympathy’ being added to Double J rotation and wowing crowds at Falls Festival Byron Bay, she’s ready to set 2018 on fire. Iluka takes her full band on tour this April for six headline dates up and down Australia’s East Coast.
