Set to perform as special guest for The Rubens in Brisbane and Melbourne on their national tour in February, Kira Puru has announced headline performances in Melbourne and Sydney this March. To celebrate the announcement, the multi-disciplined songstress has revealed the video for her hypnotic new single ‘Tension’.
Directed by Melbourne musician, DJ, graphic designer and emerging director Tanzer, the video stars T-Bone aka Steven Luzuriaga (environmental scientist by day and drummer for Mojo Juju by night) and his irresistible showstopping dance moves.
Puru says of the video, “I have been inundated with videos of people dancing to Tension since it was released. The song itself is about the electricity that bolts through you when you see someone you have chemistry with, and the complex emotions you experience in that split second. I wanted the video to emulate that feeling and to incorporate the joy and recklessness in the videos I have been sent. Dancing is the highest compliment a song can receive.”
Cutting her teeth with Australia’s finest on the national stage, including a guest appearance at Splendour In The Grass and triple j’s One Night Stand in 2016 with Urthboy, as well as joining him on tour for Midnight Oil in October, Puru will bring her dynamic live performance to the Oxford Art Factory Gallery in Sydney on Friday 9th March and The Workers Club in Melbourne on Saturday 10th March.
Widely respected as one of Australia’s biggest voices, 2018 will provide a new chapter from the book of Puru, with further details revealed shortly.
