Following the release of their brilliant new single ‘Rather Be Lonely’, preeminent Sydney dream-pop quartet I Know Leopard are crouched and ready to begin 2017 the right way – with a whirlwind summer tour.
It has been, unquestionably, a hallmark year for the band. 2016 saw them sign to nationally revered label Ivy League Records (also home to The Rubens, Bad//Dreems, Cloud Control, Alpine and many more) and embark on two mammoth national support tours with The Paper Kites and Holy Holy.
In October, I Know Leopard released ‘Rather Be Lonely’, their anti-love anthem produced by Steve Schram (Paul Kelly, Tiny Little Houses) to myriad praise; most notably in the form of an immediate add to full rotation on triple j. The irreverent, whimsically morbid accompanying clip, created and directed by Wyatt Winbourne (who’s made videos for Mac DeMarco and Joey Bada$$), premiered on Yen and drew attention from music media across the country.
The infamous Australian music industry summer slump may be just over the horizon, but as in the wild, these Leopards don’t rest at the same time as everyone else. They’ll be spending the holiday season hunting for fresh new sonic territory, burying themselves deep into the studio jungle, ready to pounce into 2017 and snatch it in their jaws.
