With their new single ‘Chemical Motivation’ spinning around on triple j and community radio across the country and the band about to head out on the road with Calling All Cars, The Love Junkies are proud to unveil their new EP, Flight Test.
Self-produced, recorded and mixed by the band in singer Mitch McDonald’s old bedroom at his parent’s house, the EP includes the single along with ‘Storm Troopers’ penned by bass player Robbie Rumble and the stark honesty of drummer Lewis Walsh’s ‘Gloria to My Dysphoria’. The EP is available from April 4 on CD and limited edition vinyl via MGM distribution.
Hailing from the foothills of Perth, Western Australia, The Love Junkies was founded in 2009 between the three school friends. The Love Junkies have played shows with La Dispute, Band Of Skulls, Papa Vs Pretty, British India, Kingswood, Stonefield, Die! Die! Die!, Birds of Tokyo, Grinspoon and Jeff The Brotherhood to name a few and performed at the 2012 and 2013 Perth Big Day Out and Groovin’ The Moo festivals.
2013 was the band’s biggest year to date. They released their debut album Maybelene to a sellout crowd. Singles ‘Oxymoron’ and ‘Baby Come Home’ were added to rotation on triple j, and scored the band the triple j unearthed slot at Southbound festival. They’ve also toured Australia four times including at the BIGSOUND music conference in Brisbane in September where the band were signed to New World Artists after 2 blistering live showcases.
All this hard work culminated in six nominations and three wins at the 2013 Western Australian Music Awards for breakthrough act, best rock act and best drummer. The band recently signed a deal with German based label Siiick Records to release their debut album Maybelene in May this year.
