[News] LUPE FIASCO ANNOUNCES AUSTRALIAN & NZ TOUR

Rapper, producer, songwriter and one of the most socially conscious superstars of the 21st century, Lupe Fiasco will be bringing his subversive Hip Hop movement to Australian and New Zealand stages in January 2018.

Among one of the most reflective and enigmatic rappers of today, Lupe Fiasco reinvigorated Hip Hop with the release of his highly anticipated debut album, 2006’s Food & Liquor. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 10 and received three nominations for the Grammy Awards including Best Rap Album. After seizing the spotlight Lupe’s reign continued with the release of his break-out 2007 hit- single ‘Superstar’, whilst his position as a pioneer of social awareness was solidified.

Since his seismic debut Lupe Fiasco’s music has become renowned for provoking thought on social issues such as poverty, absent parents and war and has won several gold, platinum and multi-platinum certifications among a slew of hit singles which include ‘The Show Goes On’, ‘Battle Scars’, with Australia’s own Guy Sebastian and ‘Old School Love’ which features Ed Sheeran.

Drogas Light, released earlier this year, is where Lupe’s sonics and storytelling propensities exemplify a high point for artistic growth. Instilled with all the lyrical genius, artistic vision and trap rap tropes for which he is known, his sixth studio album is a potent addition to his intellectual discography.

“But here, with a newfound urgency to his sound, he proves once again that he is still the brainy smurf of rap.”- Pitchfork

“Drogas Light actually serves as a brisk, masterful concept album…Fiasco launches a conscious counter-attack that’s cynical and satirical but also generous and accepting.” – Rolling Stone
