Mammal – one of Australia’s most fierce, outspoken & storied rock artists, shook off the hibernation sickness of their hiatus in late 2017 to make a ferociously triumphant return to the Australian live music scene. May 2018 saw them release their first music and video in 8 years, a dance-able track called ‘Community’ – and announced that they would once again head around the country.
Now – they are adding to that legacy with new track ‘Virtue Signalling’ and adding even more dates to their already packed tour schedule. Mammal fans will have ample chances to see the outspoken and in-your-face act from June through September 2018.
————————
In August 2017, Mammal stepped out of the wilderness after 8 long years to announce a reunion show and tribal gathering in their home town of Melbourne. The show sold out within hours of tickets being released and needless to say went on to be one of the most intense and emotionally charged shows in the bands short, but action packed history. They quickly added 3 more shows in late 2017 with each one proving to be just as powerful, affecting and exciting as ever. But the question still remained… “Are Mammal truly back??”
Well, it seems that as of today that question can finally be answered with a fist in the air and a resounding “HELL YEAH!!”
Mammal ARE back – bigger and better than ever, and they come bearing gifts. Frontman Ezekiel Ox says of the new track – “It’s been 10 years since we dropped new shit, talk is cheap, turn it up and dance.”
It is with great pleasure that Mammal announce the release of their first single ‘Community’ with bonus track ‘Virtue Signalling’. ‘Community’ was self-produced by Mammal recorded in Melbourne by engineers Tyson Fish and Steven Smith and mixed/mastered by legendary producer Machine (Lamb of God, Clutch etc) at the Machine Shop in the USA. The band loved the new song so much that today they are also releasing a videoclip for ‘Community’, directed by young gun Jack Dyball.
The bonus track on the Community Double A-Side Single release, ‘Virtue Signalling’, is one many fans from the return shows may remember – it made its debut in the live set during that tour! The track is Classic Mammal – Bouncy riffs, spitfire lyrics and all the intensity and ferocity you’ve come to expect!
But wait, there’s more! To support the release of ‘Community’ – Mammal is also announcing that they will be embarking on a national tour presented by artist agency New World Artists – and are bringing Brisbane heavyweight funksters Osaka Punch and Melbournian hip-hop artist Fresh Violet along for the ride!
Osaka Punch have been going from strength to strength in the past 2 years, supporting Dead Letter Circus & The Butterfly Effect on full Australian tours and releasing their EP Death Monster Super Squad and single ‘How We Operate’.
Fresh Violet is Melbournian rapper, producer and musician creating waves in the Australian music community with her refreshing, upbeat take on Hip Hop. Her quirky style and personality matched with genuine technical skill and stage presence has marked her as a force to be reckoned with. Fresh has been tearing up stages around Australia on her solo national tour this year and is currently preparing to release her debut album 50 Shades of Violet.
Needless to say these shows are set to be massive and the lads cannot wait to hit the road and celebrate their return with all their extended Mammalian family around the country!
