Martha Davis and the Motels are confirmed for an Australian Tour hitting our shores in October this year which will see them perform many of their hits including ‘Only the Lonely’, ‘Take the L out of Lover’, ‘Total Control’ and ‘Shame’ – just to name a few!

After wrapping up 2012 by opening for The Go-Go’s at the iconic Hollywood Bowl, 2013 is proving to be the most exciting year yet for Martha Davis and the band. New recordings, exciting new music videos of both her hits and new tracks, a revitalised touring schedule in the US and Europe and the honour of performing at the NAMM convention in their “Living Legends” special concert series on their Main Stage with some of the most significant musicians of the 21st century backing her performance.

Born and raised in the famed Bay Area that is Berkeley, California, Martha Davis decided to uproot and move to Los Angeles in the early ‘70’s, where she formed the first incarnation of The Motels who signed to the famed Capitol Records in 1979. That signing lead to the release of the eponymous self titled debut album The Motels, that exploded in Australia and New Zealand on the strength of the massive hit ‘Total Control’ that reached Top 5 on the ARIA Charts in 1980 and in turn, was certified Gold in Australia and New Zealand.

Their sophomore effort Careful, was released in 1981 and was also certified Gold in Australia and New Zealand, and included the hits ‘Danger’ and ‘Whose Problem’. In 1982, The Motels released their break-through album, the well lauded All For One that spawned the smash hits ‘Only The Lonely’ and ‘Take The L (Out Of Lover)’ that both reached the Top 30 in Australia. 1983’s Little Robbers resulted in the Top 40 hit single ‘Suddenly Last Summer’ with 1985’s Shock album yielding the Top 20 hit, ‘Shame’.

Following the 1987 release of her first solo effort, Policy, (which featured the Australian #8 single ‘Don’t Tell Me The Time’), Martha took a sabbatical from the music scene. When asked later where she had been, Martha replied, “(I went) looking for my sense of humour – I seemed to have lost it somewhere around 1984. It’s not a business that one should be in without a sense of humour.”

Fast forward through three more solo albums and four Motels albums, 2013 sees Martha Davis touring Australia and New Zealand (for her first visit since she was here as part of the Countdown Spectacular in 2007) bringing with her the strongest incarnation of The Motels yet.

Don’t miss the opportunity to catch what will be one of the highlight tours of the year. Make sure you pack your bags, book a room and prepare to stay the night with Martha Davis and The Motels.
