Queensland boutique festival Mojo Burning is going from strength to strength, having just dropped an epic first lineup for the April 14 annual event.
Adding the likes of Wolfmother, The Tea Party’s Jeff Martin, Henry Wagons, Hat Fitz & Cara, Money For Rope and Child, Mojo Burning will showcase 30 acts over 3 seamless stages at the Hamilton Hotel in Brisbane for what will be its 5th consecutive year.
With a history of supporting the national underground Blues, Rock, Roots and Stoner Rock scenes, the well-loved undertaking provides a positive cultural force for genre acts who independently and without mainstream help achieve success through working hard, touring hard and playing hard. Previous headliners include Nick Oliveri (QOTSA/Kyuss), Gay Paris, King of the North, The Fumes and more.
A limited edition run of FIRST ANNOUNCE TICKETS are now on sale at the low price of $40+bf with the second and final announce, coming in just over a week, set to add another 8 bands to the already jam packed bill.
The festival will this year introduce a dedicated Psych/Stoner room at the Hamilton Hotel matched with venue-wide visuals, live art installations, VIP lounge and more in what is most definitely one of the biggest days on the Australian boutique festival calendar.
A Mojo Burning band competition is also in full swing, with heat winners across Brisbane and the Gold Coast going through to a final showdown resulting in 2 comp acts being added to the lineup. Heats are currently taking place at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Brisbane and Parkwood Hotel on the Gold Coast.
Fest organiser Christian Tryhorn of Beats Cartel says of the first announce lineup “We’ve really tried to up the anti and sell the venue out this year with the addition of Wolfmother, Jeff Martin, Wagons and Money For Rope. Not that there’s anything wrong with the other 26 bands on the bill! This is a real showcase of the best underground talent in the country with some big names and international guests thrown in.”
Mojo Burning will also host and nationally tour Elephant Hive, Prog Rock act out of Israel and aims to set up a bunch of sideshows to help touring acts cover the expense of making the journey North.
