UK-based folk singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner has just announced his AU/NZ exclusive cut ‘Never Have I Ever’, as a celebration of his return to Australian shores. The track was produced/mixed by the artist himself and mastered by Natalie Bibby at Metropolis Studios.
Newtown explains, “Australia was the first international place to get behind my music. To have fans on the other side of the world was mind blowing. We have always tried to come back regularly as the gigs and festivals have always been so fun. This time I didn’t want to come back empty handed, so this song is a small gift from me to Australia and the wonderful fans I’ve been so lucky to play in front of over the years.”
‘Never Have I Ever’ skilfully fuses acoustic and folk-inspired elements, placing a spotlight on Newton’s soulful vocals. The poignant lyrics gracefully soar amidst introspective melodies, forging a resonant and uplifting connection that exudes a profound sense of hope and optimism.
Newton shares the story behind ‘Never Have I Ever’: “I wrote this song as birthday present to my wife, just after all the Covid lock downs in the UK. It was the ultimate test of any relationship, spending every second together and not even being allowed to leave the house, also we had to be extra careful because she was pregnant at the time. It was tough and I wanted her to know that we didn’t just get through it, but I’d actually never loved her more.”
In the live arena, Newton Faulkner will be performing at Bluesfest 2024, performing with acts such as Jack Johnson and Matt Corby. The artist has previously shared the stage with Mahalia, Angus and Julia Stone, Jamiroquai and has appeared at multiple festivals including Victorious 2023 (UK), Kendal Calling (UK) and Teddy Rocks (UK).
Newton Faulkner’s catalogue has received millions of streams on Spotify, with his debut album, Hand Built By Robots, reaching #1 on the UK Album Charts and #5 on the ARIA Album Charts. In 2007, the debut was certified double-platinum, followed by ‘Dream Catch Me’ that reached #7 on the UK Single Charts and #5 on the ARIA Single Charts. Since then, he has had multiple albums place on the UK Album Chart, including his third studio album Write It On Your Skin that reached #1.
