Award-winning Australian photographer NIC BEZZINA will bring his arresting works to exhibitions in Melbourne and Sydney next month to launch his crowd-funded debut photography book: RELEASE THE CROWD.
Published thanks to a successful crowd-funding project, Release the Crowd turns the lens away from the characters onstage, focusing in on the mad lives and good times of thousands of thrilled music lovers across five countries and eleven huge major festivals. It boasting over one hundred luscious black and white prints.
Currently dividing his time between Sydney and London, Nic Bezzina boasts the sharpest and most unique of eyes for music photography presently getting around festival photo pits, bars and backstages. He has exhibited his work at the State Library of NSW, Sydney Town Hall, and China Heights gallery. Nic’s work is held in public and private collections including the State Library of NSW, the City of Sydney Archives, and the National Museum of Australia.
Live music is an intimate rite of passage for so many young people across the world. Just one day can manufacture memories that will last long after the stages are dismantled and the bands have moved on. This series captures the individuals in the crowd. And their emotions are visceral and enthralling. A stunning portfolio that is a timeless testament to the persistant power of live music.
Large-scale prints really are the most impressive way to enjoy Nic’s work (outside of the book, of course) so get down to one of his Sydney & Melbourne book launch exhibitions for a drink and a chance to pick up a signed copy of this gorgeous local photography publication.
