The countdown is on, with only a few more weeks to go until the Yours & Owls Festival obliterates the ‘gong with its jam-packed line-up and we couldn’t be more excited to party with you! No excuses from all you NSW’ers out there because Monday Oct 2 is a public holiday!
Saturday Day Tickets have completely SOLD OUT and we are down to the very last of the FINAL WEEKENDER tickets so you’d better get in quick if you don’t want to miss out!
Unfortunately, it is with heavy hearts and a tear in our eyes that we announce Gold Class will no longer be able to slay the Y & O’s stage due to an international scheduling conflict BUT we have good news!
Stepping up to the plate are US slackers WAVVES, who will be bringing their skuzzy distortion to the shores of Wollongong. Coming off the back of a massive US album tour and joining Blink 182 on a couple of their US shows they are more than ready to storm the stage, performing tracks off their latest offering You’re Welcome, including ‘Million Enemies’ + ‘Stupid in Love’, to an Australian audience for the very first time. With 8 albums under their belt, heads will be sore from banging away to their charmingly messy repertoire.
Taking over duties from SAFIA, who are no longer able to perform at the U18’s Festival ONLY (still performing at the 18+ Festival) due to scheduling issues, will be Allday. Joining him in the U18’s festivities will be young EDM producer and DJ Black Summer + Wollongong local Tyne-James Organ.
After Allday dropped his debut album Start Up Cult in 2014, it quickly sparked the interest of audiences across Australia and came in at a massive #3 on the Aria Charts, only to fall behind SIA and Ed Sheerhan. Spawning hit singles ‘Right Now’ and ‘You Always Know The DJ’, he quickly caught the ear of seasoned tastemakers like Sway Calloway, Complex, and Pigeons & Planes. 2017 he is back in full force with fresh track ‘Raceway’ off his brand new album Speeding. Following on from his performance at this year’s Splendour in the Grass, see him take to the stage with a bunch of new material to get your ears around.
Black Summer was ‘Unearthed’ by Triple J in 2015 at the age of 11. Since then he has starred in Triple J’s mini documentary about musicians in regional Australia, which went viral with close to 2 million views online, performed at events such as ‘Groovin’ the Moo’ and Nickelodeon’s Slimefest, and is currently working on his debut EP, which includes latest track ‘Young Like Me’
Having created a powerful online following through his Youtube channel, Tyne-James Organ has collaborated with the likes of Allday, toured with The Beautiful Girls, Lewis Watson, and Little Sea, and sold out his debut headline tour in less than a week. Having only officially released one single, ‘In My Arms’, we predict there’ll be more than a few extra fans joining his impressive socials, and hoping to meet him after seeing him perform at Yours & Owls.
Don’t fear footy fans! We knew it wouldn’t be a long weekend without the footy finals, so breathe a sigh of relief; we are going to be showing both the AFL and NRL grand finals in full at Yours and Owls. If we are doing this, we are doing it right! The games will be screened live on the big screen at the Rad Stage:
AFL – Starts 2:30pm on Saturday September 30
NRL – Starts 7:15pm on Sunday October 1
The only question that remains, which teams will make it in to the finals!
The art market collective behind Psyfari Food Markets will be curating the cozy bazaar vibes in the market village in 2017. Expect cuisine from all corners of the globe including Mediterranean street fair, NZ fish and chips, steamed dumplings and giant sizzling pans of paella, not to mention stylish vintage wares from the likes of Wandering Merchant and Mr Vintage to add the final tizz to the festival costumes + so much more!
In case you missed it last year the incredible crew at Forever Projects, who strive to empower Tanzanian families by giving initial life-saving support to permanently allow these families to move out of poverty, enlisted a few artists to add to their Forever Projects market installation. This year we have upped the ante and we’ve brought on board ten amazing local artists to create some large collaborative murals during the festival. We’ve got a variety of artists from a range of styles who all practice art in their own unique way. All the artists are painting to promote the amazing work the Forever Projects do and show what’s possible when people come together and use what’s in their hands.
