We started booking this tour about one minute after we finally got to do the triple-postponed headline tour last May – the excitement for playing gigs again is back in full swing! Super stoked to have one of my all-time favourite bands (Protest the Hero) joining us, as well bestie Dave Mackay from the UK joining my band on keys for the tour. If there are any notes left to be played at the end of the night, we will have failed…” – Plini

Accompanying the exciting tour news today, fans can catch a glimpse of the magic in-store next January and February with a live music video for Plini’s track ‘Papelillo’ out now, shot back in June at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre during Plini’s run supporting Northlane’s Obsidian Tour.

After two years of waiting patiently, Plini sprang back into action in 2022, with back-to-back sold out headline tours of Australia, India and Scandinavia, festival appearances in Australia, UK, Germany and Portugal, and performing in some of Australia’s finest theatres supporting Northlane.

To celebrate what finally feels to be the proper return of live music, Plini and his impeccable live collective will embark on their biggest Australian tour production yet, in January and February of 2023.

Plini and co will be joined by the inimitable Protest The Hero (Canada), returning to Australia for the first time since 2017 and Melbourne’s I Built The Sky – guaranteeing an evening of mind-bending musicality from all angles.

Welding technical metal with post-hardcore flair, Ontario-hailing quintet Protest The Hero have evolved from teenage underground sensations into one of the most forward-thinking bands in the heavier realms. Their debut 2005 full-length Kezia set the scene for a sharp and ever-evolving sonic trajectory, Now an award-winning band in command of millions of streams and a legion of fans, Protest The Hero’s explosive live show has seen them tour with the likes of Coheed and Cambria, August Burns Red, Between The Buried And Me, In Hearts Wake and Closure In Moscow.

I Built The Sky, the brainchild of guitarist Rohan Stevenson, has been releasing self-produced instrumental guitar music since 2012. Fusing complex arrangements, catchy melodics and shredding guitarwork, I Built The Sky ranges from thunderously progressive to intimately acoustic, and everything in between. Previously touring with the likes of Caligula’s Horse, Twelve Foot Ninja, Circles and many others at home and abroad, I Built The Sky is a must-see for any prog, guitar, or riff fan.
