Beloved Sydney band The Preatures today reveal that they are heading back out on the road this September, playing five dates across the country on their national Girlhood Album Tour. The tour kicks off at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on Friday 1st September, before heading through Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, wrapping up at Capitol in Perth on Saturday 23rd September.
Also announced today is news of The Preatures’ much-anticipated second album, Girlhood, the follow up to 2014’s breakthrough debut Blue Planet Eyes. The album will be released on August 11, and is available to pre-order now.
Bold yet fragile, courageous and vulnerable, and direct but deep, The Preatures’ second album explores the contradictions of being a modern woman. Isabella ‘Izzi’ Mandredi says, “The songs are about growing up as a young girl in Sydney. But a band is also the sum of your relationships with each other, so maybe it’s also about the last eight years growing up together.”
Penned by front-woman Izzi, Girlhood’s title track, which premiered last week on triple j, is driving and infectious; a call-to-arms for young women to become the heroine of their own story.

The Preatures last night performed a stunning sold out show at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid LIVE, and The Guardian has hailed their live show as “something joyous”. US tastemakers Consequence Of Sound wrote, “Manfredi is a peculiar force… Her live performance is visceral and she adds a little rust to most of the choruses. It’s a magnetic style that’s dangerous, that’s sexy, that’s … well, radiant”.
In a major coup, The Preatures have secured local buzz-band Polish Club as special guests on their national Girlhood tour dates. In addition, emerging post-punk outfit Hair Die will join the band on their Sydney and Melbourne dates, with Rin McArdle appearing in Adelaide and Boat Show in Perth.
Fresh off the back of a mammoth sold out national tour, Polish Club are one of the most raw and rambunctious rock bands in the country. The duo’s debut album Alright Already scored a triple j Feature on release earlier this year, with Rolling Stone calling it, “High-octane, sweaty rock & roll… An exciting, wild noise, yet one supported by genuine imagination and ingenuity”, and Pilerats gushing, “these guys are one of, if not Australia’s freshest and most exciting rock’n’roll bands right now”.
The Preatures’ 2013 hit ‘Is This How You Feel?’ catapulted the five-piece from Sydney’s worst kept secret to Australia’s freshest music export, landing them on stages at Glastonbury, Coachella, Bonnaroo and the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show. It clocked in at #9 on triple j’s Hottest 100 poll, won the coveted Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition, and earned them high praise from fans as diverse as P!nk, Harry Styles and the late, great Doc Neeson.
Their debut album Blue Planet Eyes received critical acclaim across the globe, and debuted at #4 on the ARIA Chart. The band were nominated for 3 ARIA Awards in 2015 for Best Live Act, Best Group and Best Rock Album and won GQ’s Band of The Year Award.
Known for their killer live show, The Preatures have sold out countless dates around the country and are not to be missed on their national headline dates this September!
