Richard Clapton has announced his annual pilgrimage to the State Theatre in Sydney!
To celebrate the release this August of the re-mastered versions of his most popular albums Goodbye Tiger, Prussian Blue and The Great Escape, Ralph, as he’s known to his friends, and his band of renown, will be playing songs from these three albums plus all his greatest hits on Saturday, 31 August 2024.

Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, described Richard’s 1977 album Goodbye Tiger as Clapton’s, “most celebrated work, an album full of rich, melodic and accessible rock with a distinctly Australian flavour. It established Clapton’s reputation as one of the most important Australian songwriters.”
And important he is! With songs like ‘Girls on the Avenue’, ‘I Am an Island’, ‘Capricorn Dancer’, ‘High Society’, ‘Blue Bay Blues’, ‘Glory Road’ and, not forgetting ‘Deep Water’, he really is responsible for some of The Best Years of our Lives.
Richard said, “Wow! It’s hard to believe that I have been doing these concerts since 2008. Where did that time go? Just goes to show it’s been 16 years of great times at The State Theatre and this year will be more of the same: ‘feelin’ alright tonight’.”
Richard Clapton and his red hot band will be playing the whole show (two sets).
