Shock Records are excited to announce the brand new signing of Seabellies – with the Newcastle group’s forthcoming album set for release later this year via Shock imprint Permanent Records.
With self-released EP Wave Your Fingers To Make The Winters (2007), critically acclaimed LP By Limbo Lake (2010) and a relentless domestic and international touring schedule under their belts – Seabellies have been a part of Australia’s musical landscape since their beginnings in 2006.
To shake off the cobwebs of touring, the band simultaneously set off to different parts of the world in source of inspiration for their forthcoming album. In the European summer of 2011, they all found themselves in Berlin and began working on new material.
Written and recorded in Melbourne, Sydney and Berlin, the forthcoming album is a real departure from where By Limbo Lake left off, and draws upon specific places and memories.
New single ‘It’s Alright’ was the first song written in Berlin, and is a brooding and melodic track ending with that signature Seabellies’ anthemic left turn. The band used four different drumkits to give the song its thumping yet cluttered swagger. Lyrically, ‘It’s Alright’ is a conversation between left and right brain, attempting to un-clutter all the fears and anxieties that one allows themselves to bring into their lives.
With the album set for release later this year, Seabellies are delighted to have a great team on board – with the support of Shock Records, 123 Red Booking and Alberts Publishing. To accompany the release of ‘It’s Alright’, the band will embark on a string of headline dates – supported by I, A Man. Dates and ticketing details below.
