Sydney-based Slumberhaze today release the new single ‘Neon Demon’ off their upcoming EP Rhyme, Rhythm, and Romance (Part 3) – the third and final masterstroke of their EP trilogy due June 10.
With influences ranging from David Bowie to Outkast, the band’s sound – in terms of definition – is both familiar, yet just out of reach. Boasting pop melodies, dark undertones, and a seamless integration of live instrumentation, synths, and infectious hip-hop leaning beats, Slumberhaze have struck out like genre-defying iconoclasts.
Recent releases ‘Run As Fast As You Can, Kids’ and the darkly soulful and captivating ‘Nothing But You’ have both been played by Double J, Triple J, and Community radio stations 2SER, FBi, RRR, Edge, and 4ZZZ as well as racking up over 100K plays on Spotify – being praised as “the kind of song that reveals itself more with each listen” (Dom Alessio, Triple J) and “borderless and unpredictable” (Music Feeds).
‘Neon Demon’ is the new single to be taken from the upcoming EP and immediately launches the listener into an illuminated scene after sundown where like-minded humans would come to connect. Produced by Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezebels, The Vines, The Whitlams), the song explores letting go of any inner doubts and thought patterns, freeing one to escape to the calling of the bright lights and the dreams we refrain from exploring due to fear.
