After a relentless touring schedule that has taken them across the world, hardcore staples SPEED are coming home for an Australian tour in celebration of their debut album ONLY ONE MODE, out July 12 via Last Ride Records / Flatspot Records.
ONLY ONE MODE, a phrase coined by the group, encapsulates the band’s overarching ethos: Hardcore, played hard, played fast, “for us, by us”—explicit, immediate, definitive—hinting at all the crucial bands that have come before them. Having grown exponentially since first forming in 2019, SPEED have only doubled down on their values, doing what they do for the love of their friends, family and the culture of Australian hardcore as exemplified in lead single ‘REAL LIFE LOVE’.
Last week, SPEED dropped another preview of the album with ‘THE FIRST TEST’, a dynamic, groove-driven number with lyrics that speak on striking out alone and growing in a world that’s both beautiful and ugly. Always ones to do things on their own terms, the accompanying music video was produced by SPEED together with long-time collaborators Jack Rudder and Thomas Elliot.
With their debut album locked and loaded for July, SPEED are continuing to draw global attention with their sweeping tour schedule. As the band wrap up their six-week North American tour supporting Knocked Loose, Show Me The Body, and Loathe this weekend, they’ll waste no time getting their UK/EU tour underway, playing headline shows and festival slots throughout June before making their way back over to the US in July.
Come August, SPEED will make their welcome return home as they put on some of the biggest hardcore shows ever seen in Australia; playing album cuts for the first time ever, plus all of the heaviest favourites from their catalogue. Making the tour a truly global affair, SPEED will be joined by High Vis (UK), Pain of Truth (USA) and Fuse (Singapore), plus local special guests to be announced.
