You’ve heard their name, you’ve seen the records, t-shirts and stickers… The Supersuckers are probably the favourite band of someone you know and yet they’re still a mystery to you. That’s okay! We are about to help you to get to know the greatest rock n’ roll band in the world, with the announcement that The Supersuckers are set to tour Australia for Nightmare Music, this June 2014.
Their story is almost impossible to believe. This band is literally a human cartoon. They all grew up among the dead-ends and cactus needles of Tucson, Arizona and have known each other since grade school. They graduated from the same high school together at the same time (a school immortalised in the song ‘Santa Rita High’) and they chose to play in a band together because they liked to hang out together, not because they were great musicians or anything. In this era of pre-fabricated, put-together-to-have-a-hit bands, The Supersuckers are kind of an aberration.
Throughout their entire career, their sole mission has been to create and perform timeless, quality music and get as many people as possible to hear it. That goal has never changed. The pursuit of that perfectly imperfect rock n’ roll moment is all they’ve ever been after. They’ve been doing this for over two decades now and they’re just getting started.
This may be a bit blasphemous to say, but we think recent album Get The Hell is the band’s finest work to date. Really, The Supersuckers have no business being this good after all these years! So, the next time you see The Supersuckers name, whether it’s in the record store or on the marquee at your local nightclub, know that there’s some quality, honest, ass-kicking, hard working individuals in there, trying to make your life a little better through the ‘Evil Powers Of Rock N’ Roll’. Just remember to wear your clean underwear this June, because The Supersuckers are gonna rock the pants right off of you.
