After enjoying a new career milestone in 2023 with the release of their critically acclaimed 26th studio album, The Hypnogogue, which bred a successful string of national and international touring, The Church arrived at the end of the year embracing a new sense of accomplishment and renown. A record that signalled a new chapter and new direction for The Church, The Hypnogogue remained faithful to the essence of the band’s original sound and songwriter Steve Kilbey’s unmistakable brand of storytelling and delivery, while also boldly following new inspiration and sonic footwork.
A cinematic offering, The Hypnogogue redefined The Church for a new generation of fans, while re-establishing their legacy amongst the legions of music lovers who have been under their spell since their debut in 1980.
The Church’s current lineup, led by Kilbey; beautifully complemented out by long-time collaborator, drummer and producer Tim Powles, along with ever-talented guitarists Ian Haug, Ashley Naylor and multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Cain, has brought joy to audiences around the world in recent years. And with more to come from The Church in 2024, they are ensuring that this decade of their career is set to be one of their most fulfilling yet.
