[News] THE NECKS ADD NEW SHOWS IN WYONG, WOLLONGONG, SPRINGWOOD, + AUCKLAND

Revered instrumental trio The Necks are returning to home soil for an Australian tour in January and February taking in all east coast capital cities and tickets are selling fast! They have also announced additional gigs in NSW (Wyong, Byron Bay, Wollongong, Blues Mountains) and a New Zealand performance for Auckland Arts Festival in March.

Seeing The Necks in concert is an experience like no other. Chris Abrahams (piano), Lloyd Swanton (bass), and Tony Buck (drums/percussion) take to the stage with no prior preparation. They embark on an exploration of a simple musical idea, gradually evolving their pieces—which can extend for an hour or more—conjuring textures and aural illusions that defy easy description. No two Necks concerts are ever the same.

The Necks’ music is so ephemeral that no one can be expected to respond the same way. There are no set lists. No expectations. And definitely no requests. There is only trust: that the three of them will quite literally make it up as they go along.” Andrew Stafford, The Guardian 2024

The Necks latest album Bleed (released 11 Oct) explores a sublime language of stillness. With a single, 42-minute composition, The Necks masterfully express the unspeakable beauty of decay and space in yet another totally distinct entry in a vast and stunning body of work.

From their humble beginnings as a private jamming project in Sydney over thirty years ago, The Necks are now in high demand around the world. The Necks are currently on an extensive UK and European tour, their 2nd this year. Consequently, they have to pack performances in their native Australia into the early part of each year.
