Bless up. THIS THAT comes through with the ultimate flex, today announcing its most stacked announcement yet.
Now in its fifth year, THIS THAT is a beloved and iconic trinket in the proverbial Australian festival pool room. Selling out every year since inception, the hottest ticket on the Newcastle music calendar just got hotter. In a huge glow-up announced first by the team at triple j today, the 2019 edition features 21 must-see local and international acts. Primed for a party, Newcastle’s Wickham Park will be heaving with electronic bangers alongside a smattering of impressive rock, pop and hip-hop vibes. THIS STAGE and THAT STAGE make a return as well as mystical pop up enclave THE OTHER.

The funnest (and funniest) blokes at the party, Peking Duk return to the THIS THAT stage this November. So far they’re the only main stage act invited back to the festival twice and with a stack of new tracks to showcase including ‘Sugar ft. Jack River’ and ‘Ur Eyez ft. Al Wright’, they’ll be bringing all of their new heat. Closing main stage is the illusive Golden Features. Releasing debut album SECT late last year, this masked electronic producer has a reputation for incredible live visuals and epic builds followed by cataclysmic drops.
One of Australia’s most endearing and popular live acts Hermitude are back, recently gifting the world the start of something new in single ‘Northern Lights’. They’ll headline THAT Stage for an epic showdown at the end of the day. International faces include LA resident NGHTMRE spinning up a storm and producer Jai Wolf landing with futuristic soundscapes and good times.
Taking the BPM down a notch, the ever impressive Meg Mac, Middle Kids, Alex Lahey, Thundamentals and rising pop powerhouse CXLOE are on hand to assist with afternoon sing-a-long vibes. Melbourne vibe-masters Running Touch and Northeast Party House are in charge of throwing it down over on THAT stage. Plus, if you’re looking to get boujee and show off those moves there’s plenty of room to whip them out during LDRU, Slumberjack, Enschway, Haiku Hands and Lucille Croft.
Boasting a sizable expansion of otherworldly pop-up stage THE OTHER, THIS THAT organisers have managed to outdo themselves, adding a stack of hot-right-now acts to cap off the festival’s most stacked first announcement to date. Indie darlings Alex The Astronaut, Ali Barter, San Mei and Didirri have a crack, as well as hip-hop staple Carmouflage Rose. Plus Newcastle legends Raave Tapes are sure to get the blood pumping too. With more artist to be announced including a main stage opener hand-picked by the triple j Unearthed team, the final line up will be a big mood.
Living it up isn’t for everyone but it is if you’re all that. ALL THAT VIP tickets are up for grabs again this year with a stage-front viewing lounge with fancy services and facilities. With exclusive garden seating, lawn games, premium toilets, and the return of Newcastle’s gourmet eatery, The Edwards, being a VIP is ALL THAT! Plus the minute massages, powder room stations and glitter fairies will help keep that selfie game strong. Did someone say #influencer? As always, the best gourmet ‘original source’ food concepts from across the region and state, boutique beer, long drink concoctions and eloquent cocktails are all available on game day too. Not that you needed anymore reasons to turn up.
Don’t ‘@ us’ if you miss out on tickets. There’s no excuse with pre-sale registration open now HERE until midnight tomorrow – (Wed 3 July). Plus, this year the festival introduce their ‘pay later’ payment option for those who need to share the festival love and can’t afford it in one go. They can make the payment over three installments before the event. For those smart enough to get onto a good thing when they see one, pre sale begins 9am Thursday 4 July with GA tickets on sale 9am Friday 5 July. These won’t last.
