A towering beast of a record that bludgeons all in its path, Hate was a watershed album for Australian metal that has seen Thy Art Is Murder reign in darkness over the genre ever since. Upon its release in 2012, Thy Art Is Murder made history as the first extreme metal band to crack the ARIA Top 40, the album also bulldozed its way to number one on the AIR Chart. Hate also catapulted the band onto the world stage, seeing them play a mammoth 342 dates around the globe, with more US tours than every other Australian band at the time. Thy Art Is Murder continued to smash through ceilings with an appearance at the Big Day Out, becoming only the second extreme metal band to play the festival after Blood Duster. Between laps of the world, Hate was lauded with nominations for both an ARIA and a Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award. The album has been streamed over 55 million times to date.
To help mark a decade of Hate, Thy Art Is Murder has enlisted a behemoth line-up featuring Whitechapel (US), who will make their long-awaited return to Australia for their first run of shows in almost 10 years! Whitechapel have pumped out three albums since we last saw them on the continent, including 2021’s Kin, so they have plenty of new material to dive into upon their return. Joining them is Chelsea Grin (US), who were last spied in the country in 2019. When Chelsea Grin touch down in 2023, they’ll be clutching their double album Suffer in Hell / Suffer in Heaven, with the part one dropping this November and part two arriving March 2023. Rounding out the bill will be US decibel crushers Spite, set to decimate Australian audiences for the first time ever.
