Adelaide alternative folk band, The Timbers, will be jumping back in the tour van and heading up the East Coast of Australia to launch their new line up, their new sound, and their new single, ‘Gallantry’. The Timbers have been well known for their high energy, foot-stomping live shows for years, but their line up change has raised the bar to a new level of excitement.
Kyle Vause (trumpet, vocals, percussion) and Joe Murphy (banjo, vocals, percussion) have added the next tier of liveliness, musicianship, and song writing to The Timbers since joining at the start of this year. The single, ‘Gallantry’, is an uplifting song of mateship, camaraderie, and battles won and loves lost. It perfectly captures the new energy and direction of the band.
The Tour will be bookended by festivals in New South Wales (Wollombi Music Festival) on Saturday 12th October and South Australia (Fleurieu Folk Festival) on 27th October. The tour van will stop into Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle, Melbourne, as well as rural shows in Albury.
Another track which they have recently recorded was written for the Sea Shepherd Organisation. The Timbers have enjoyed a strong working relationship with Sea Shepherd. Their previous EPs were played on board the Steve Irwin and Bob Barker ships during the Operation Zero Tolerance so often that many of the crew described The Timbers music as the sound track to this very successful operation.
2013 has already been a hectic year for the band. The have performed at Mount Beauty Festival (Vic), Yackandandah Festival (Vic), Newport Folk Festival (Vic), Blenheim Festival (SA), Overland Music Festival (SA), Daybreak Music Festival (SA), and Adelaide Fringe Festival (SA). They have toured Victoria and recorded new songs too. The rest of the year will be filled with more festival appearances and more recordings with the aim to have an album out next year.
