Tom West is a songwriter and fingerpicker who wrote his first song at the tender age of 15 after being acrimoniously dumped by a high school sweetheart. His lyrics are clever, endearing and catchy, successfully avoid cliché and predictability; the common pitfalls of your average want-to-be songwriter.
Two years in the making, Adelaide based Tom West’s debut Album, A Spark in the Dark, will be launched in August with dates in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Forster and Newcastle. The launch follows on from extensive touring through the first half of 2013 with jaunts to the USA and Canada as well as all the major Australian cities.
The album was a labour of love; songs written over a year of travelling and then tracked on cold late nights in a shed in the Adelaide Hills, using two mics and a laptop. Fellow Adelaide musicians Alister Douglas (Wild Oats, FIRS) and Todd Sibbin helped produce and perform on the album and will be accompanying Tom for the album launch tour dates to perform as a three-piece.

The two singles ‘Jonathan’s Farm’ and ‘Malecon’ represent the diversity of the album, from very simple folk tunes to grand and moody soundscapes.
