After postponing their tour due to venue lockdowns this month, WAAX are thrilled to announce rescheduled dates for all of their shows on their Big Grief album tour. “Our sights are set on getting this tour off the ground as soon as we can. Performing and connecting with our community is deep in our DNA and having to postpone was the hardest thing for us. We can’t wait for this shit storm to end so we can bring the fam back together.” – Maz De Vita, WAAX
Some dates are at different venues, but they are still hitting all the cities on their original run (with the exception of Geelong – tickets to this show will be refunded). And while the band would love for all patrons who bought their tickets to the original dates to hold on to those tickets, they understand not all can, so have offered a refund period of one month, from Thursday 26th March – Sun 26th April, inclusive. Original tickets will be valid for all rescheduled shows held at the same venue.

To say 2019 was a breakthrough year for Brisbane based outfit WAAX, would be an understatement. Their debut album Big Grief was released to critical acclaim and much love from their ever-growing fanbase. Playing shows from Melbourne to New York, their drive to share their music live saw the crowds grow – selling out their national single tour weeks in advance and becoming the must-see artist on the Australian festival landscape. With unstoppable momentum they announce their biggest tour to date to celebrate this Australian Music Prize-nominated album.
On Big Grief, the expected shape of their punk to come has taken a decidedly rockier angle. As lyricist and vocalist Maz De Vita declares, it’s something that hasn’t been a conscious decision, more purely the fact that the band have never been willing to trade emotion over allegiance to style. “We never write thinking about genre,” she states, “we always just do what sounds right to us. Waax will always at its core look to convey a feeling, no matter what form it comes in.”
Recorded with legendary Powderfinger front man Bernard Fanning and Grammy-winning producer Nick DiDia (Springsteen, RATM, Pearl Jam) at the helm, Big Grief explores the very definition of the word grief in universal terms; it’s a mourning that as sentient beings in the modern world, with all its technological trappings, we should all be able to relate to.
Joining WAAX on the tour will be fellow Brisbane band, Bugs, who will be showcasing their infectiously happy pop music at all shows.
